Dr. Angela Goodloe is an assistant professor at Norfolk State University in the School of Education and a veteran educator of secondary and higher education. She received her Doctorate Degree in Education Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She teaches leadership courses toward licensure in Education Administration and Supervision. She taught at Hampton University and was essential to the acquisition of the NASA-STEM Teacher Training Grant. She was an education administrator and served as an assistant superintendent. She maintains licenses for Division Superintendent, and Administration and Supervision, and membership in Kappa Delta Pi, International Honor Society in Education.

As a Community Level Prevention Specialist, Archie currently coordinates outreach for Norfolk Community Services Board and leads Norfolk Prevention Coalition while identifying and building relationships with invested community stakeholders to combat national opioid epidemic, which has affected the City of Norfolk.

Dr. Crista Gambrell is a licensed professional counselor and has been practicing for over ten years. She is also a published author, certified personal trainer, and founder of Gambrell Wellness, LLC. Gambrell Wellness is a fitness-informed counseling practice in Virginia Beach that specializes in movement for mental health. She integrates mindfulness and movement into her sessions, leads wellness groups, and hosts community health events. Educator by heart, her favorite professional activity is teaching people about well living. “May you prosper and be in good health even as your soul prospers and gets along well.”

Ernestine Duncan Ph.D. is current chair of Psychology at Norfolk State University. She has been on the faculty there since 2001. She earned her B.A. degree from Oberlin College, Oberlin Ohio and her graduate degrees (M.A. / Ph.D.) from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Duncan is trained as a clinical psychologist and primarily conducts psychological evaluations. Her research interests include health psychology to include stress and coping and HIV/AIDS prevention with people of color. Additionally, she studies issues related to women, specifically African American women in academia.

Jeff Moe is an associate professor and chair of the department of Counseling & Human Services at Old Dominion University. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia, Ohio, and Texas with a background in community mental health. His areas of research and practice expertise are in LGBT issues in counseling, crisis counseling and response, and adult clinical mental health. Dr. Moe is a member of the Virginia Counselors Association, American Counseling Association, and he regularly presents on the local, state, and national level.

James Thornton is a Licensed Professional Counselor with 25 years of experience working with emotionally disturbed youth and families. James has worked in both the private and public mental health sectors: founding a private practice in Lynchburg, VA; working as the Intensive Community Services Director for the Central Virginia Community Services Board; and, is now the Clinical Services Administrator for the Child and Youth Behavioral Health Division for the City of Virginia Beach. James has designed and supervised multiple child crisis service programs in the state and aided the Hampton Roads region in obtaining state funds for youth crisis programs.

John W. Harrington, MD, FAAP is Professor of Pediatrics and Division Director of General Academic Pediatrics at Eastern Virginia Medical School and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk, Virginia. He has received multiple grants and is widely published in his main areas of interest; autism, obesity, and vaccine delivery. He has been recognized regionally and nationally for his work in helping families of children with autism. He is married with three children; 2 neuro-typical daughters aged 23 and 20, and a 21-year-old son with autism, who is now a gainfully employed worker at the medical center.

Mark Gibbons is the Senior Director of External Programs for Caregiver Action Network, helping to raise the platform in education and awareness for caregivers across the nation. Before joining Caregiver Action Network (CAN), Mark dedicated 10 years of service to the U.S. Army by serving as a leader in Operation Desert Shield/Storm as well as Operation Provide Comfort. Following service to his country, Mark served as Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Augusta, Georgia and then as a congressional aide for Representative Charles Norwood (10^th-GA). Following his relocation to Washington, DC, Mark brought his leadership skills to the syndicated television program, the McLaughlin Report and served as the Director of Operations for the American Red Cross.

Dr. Keesha M. Kerns is an Assistant Professor in the School of Education at Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia. She earned her PhD in Counseling and Supervision from Old Dominion University and both her Maters of Arts in Counseling and Adult Education and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from East Carolina University. Her career includes experience over ten years in community mental health counseling, fourteen years in school counseling and almost twenty years in nonprofit services with the substance abuse population. She has been involved in military research and is an advocate for students entering the counseling field.

Chief Kelvin L. Wright began his career with the Chesapeake Police Department in February of 1982 and is a graduate of the 20th Session of the Chesapeake Police Academy.  Kelvin L. Wright was appointed to the position of Chief of Police with the rank of Colonel on April 1, 2008.

Chief Wright’s educational accomplishments include an Associate Degree in Criminal Justice from Tidewater Community College, a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Saint Leo University and a Master Degree in Public Administration from Troy University. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Public Administration with an emphasis in Urban Policy from Old Dominion University.

Dr. Melvin O. Marriner is one of today’s most provocative and transparent ministers. As the longest serving Senior Pastor of Grove Church, his overarching mission for the Church and its members is to GLORIFY God, edify the people who are Christ-centered and to evangelize the lost. Dr. Marriner believes that education unlocks the door to success, and he leads by example. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Norfolk State University, Dr. Marriner earned a Master of Divinity degree from Virginia Union University School of Theology and a Doctorate of Ministry from United Theological Seminary.

Pamela is the Prevention and Systems of Care Program Manager at the Norfolk Department of Human Services. With a bachelor’s degree in social work and a master’s degree in Public Administration, she brings a unique systems approach to improving the lives of our most vulnerable children and families. Ms. Wong has 28 years of experience in the human services field, with a special interest in child welfare, helping parents address trauma, grief and loss and building protective factors. She manages the Homeless Action Response Team, Early Prevention Unit and Court Liaison for the Norfolk Department of Human Services.

Mrs. Thea Lawton is a graduate of Nova Southeastern University, where she received her Master of Science degree in mental health counseling. Mrs. Lawton is a licensed professional counselor in the state of Virginia and a national certified counselor. Mrs. Lawton has worked extensively with the military and veteran population. First, as a regional coordinator for the Virginia Wounded Warrior Program (VVWP), now known as Virginia Veterans and Family Support and currently as Clinical Quality Auditing Manager for the Military OneSource program. Mrs. Lawton has been married for twenty-three years to an active duty Naval officer.
